I struggled to read to the end of this post, but it reminds me of how important it is for me as a chaplain to minister to people of all faiths (and of no particular faith) - without ASSUMPTIONS.

May we serve those locked-in in ways that respect their dignity, their humanity and their faith traditions. May we meet THEIR needs.

How do I purchase office items with the PPCA logo on them. I ran out of paper that you gave us last year and would love to buy some. Also, I saw some leather planners with the logo. Again, would like to buy.

Thank you for your excellent article! I am a BCC hospital chaplain, and have been at my present ministry for almost 4 years. I work weekday afternoons and evenings, and find myself so utterly depleted of energy or joy lately, finding that in these four years of helping others, I have neglected my own spiritual and physical care. So, I am taking extra self-care measures now. I'll be asking my director for an unpaid leave of absence of several months, during which time I plan to focus on rest, rebuilding, spending liesurely time with friends, catching up with my own pastors and mentors (folks who know and love me, and can speak truth into my life), relearning to laugh (strange how laughter is so rare when a person feels burnt-out!) but primarily in reaquainting myself with my God and my faith in Him. I really like your reminder that Jesus Christ himself said, "let us go apart and rest a while." That's what I know that I need now. thank you so much for sharing this wisdom with me, and all of us.

R. Dean Knepp: I am so sorry about your job :( As for the federal prisons, I believe they have an age limit for new applicants; it's 35 or 37 or something like that due to their mandatory retirement system (sounds like age discrimination to me!). If you are interested in SCIs, contact Rev. Uli Klemm, the head of Religious Services for the PA DOC. He can tell you if/where there are openings and instruct you how to apply. His email is uklemm@pa.gov. Phone: 717-728-0381. Be sure to let me know how you make out. God bless!
